This is easily the earliest M1 Garand we have ever offered, serial number 525! Made in 1937 and then refurbished later in the war with a military inspected stock that has an Anniston Arsenal rebuild marking on it. The metal parts were reparkerized during this re-work, and have retained all of that parkerization. The barrel is Springfield- made from later in the 1940’s and has a minty bore. Stock has a sharp crossed cannons cartouche with SHM inspector mark. It has two circle P proofs on the wrist. Also an ‘E’ marking on the underside of the stock, though we aren’t sure of the significance. Muzzle reading is a 2, throat is a 1. Though this gun has been rebuilt, original three-digit examples are selling for upwards of $30k.
